Sixers try to stay hot in Orlando

Basketball Betting Lines

03/21/2008 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The surging Philadelphia 76ers will take their momentum to the road tonight, when they pay a visit to the Orlando Magic at Amway Arena.

The Sixers have been the hottest team in the Eastern Conference as of late, having won four straight and 16 of their last 20 games. They welcomed back former star Allen Iverson and the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday, handing the visitors a 115-113 setback in front of a sellout crowd at the Wachovia Center.

Andre Miller, who was part of the Iverson deal last December, recorded 28 points and 12 assists to lead the Sixers on an emotional night. Andre Iguodala finished with 21 points and Samuel Dalembert added 17 and 12 boards for the Sixers, who are seventh in the East standings. Philadelphia is just a half game behind Washington for the sixth spot and a game behind Toronto, which is currently fifth in the playoff race.

Willie Green added 16 points in the win, as the 76ers moved to .500 (34-34) for the first time since they were 2-2. Philadelphia has won five straight as the visitor and owns a 15-19 mark away from the City of Brotherly Love.

The Southeast Division-leading Magic will close out a four-game homestand on Friday. They are 2-1 on the stand and fell to 22-13 as the host with Wednesday's 87-86 loss to the Wizards. The Magic are one of three teams, along with Boston and Detroit, to have already clinched a spot in the postseason.

Hedo Turkoglu celebrated his 29th birthday with a career-high 39 points for Orlando, which had a five-game winning streak come to an end. Keith Bogans scored 14 points off the bench and Jameer Nelson ended with 12 points, nine assists and five rebounds in defeat.

Dwight Howard had just three points on 1-of-6 shooting from the field and pulled down 14 boards. Orlando, though, has won four of five and nine of its last 11 contests as the host.

The Magic lead the 2007-08 season series with Philadelphia, 2-1, and have won four of five and six of the previous eight meetings.

Philadelphia has lost its last two trips to Orlando.

MySportsbook.com betting odds favor Europe in 2007 Ryder Cup

September 19, 2007 – Despite holding a decided edge in the all-time series, with 24 wins, 2 ties and 10 losses, Team USA is the underdog again heading into the Ryder Cup in Kidare, Ireland this weekend, according to MySportsbook.com.  The Europeans have captured four of the past five editions, including their largest victory ever, an 18 ½ to 9 ½ thumping in Michigan in 2004. Current betting odds on the 2007 Ryder Cup favor the Europeans to continue their winning ways; they are a 4-5 bet to take the title, compared to 6-5 for the Americans.

Despite being knocked out in the first round of World Match play by Shaun Micheel, Tiger Woods is predicted to lead the US charge and be their highest point scorer for the week, with odds listed at 9-4 that he outpoints all other American players, including Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson and Chris DiMarco to  name a  few.  Team USA has four relatively unknown players on the roster but all four are 2007 tournament winners and have posted some of season’s best performances, each earning over $1.5 million on the PGA TOUR.  They include Zach Johnson, Vaughan Taylor, JJ Henry and Brett Wetterich.

The experienced European squad includes the likes of Luke Donald, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Jose Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke, who’s emotions will be tested after the passing of his wife to a battle with cancer.  Donald and Garcia are in particularly good form and each is a 5-1 bet to lead the European squad in the points race. Donald has proven he can go head to head with Woods at a major event after a run for the $1.2 million purse at the PGA Championship. Garcia’s Ryder Cup credentials prove he’s ready for battle too.
