Rodriguez picked up three saves last week, including his 50th of the season on Sunday against Minnesota. The milestone save came in the Angels' 129th game, making Rodriguez the fastest to reach the 50-save plateau.

The 26-year-old right-hander is on pace for 63 saves, which would shatter the all-time single-season record of 57 set by Bobby Thigpen of the Chicago White Sox in 1990.

Other nominees for this week's honor included Chicago's Nick Swisher, who clubbed four homers, drove in eight runs and batted .318; Boston's Jason Bay, who batted .346 with three homers; and Baltimore's Aubrey Huff, who hit .320 with two homers and seven runs batted in.
